The Starting Point Was a Mess
First thing Monday morning, I googled “WV hoops state tournament 2025 schedule.” Big mistake. Got flooded with:

- Random ticket resellers with zero dates
- Some sketchy forum posts guessing at March dates
Felt like chasing chickens in a tornado. Closed 15 tabs feeling dumber than when I started.
Switching Tactics
Next day I called the WVSSAC office directly – 304- something number. Rang ten times then went to voicemail hell. Left two messages that probably got deleted immediately.
Finally got smart Wednesday and dug up Charleston Gazette’s sports editor email. Shot him a “Hey man you got insider info?” note. Miracle happened – he replied overnight saying championship week starts March 17th at Charleston Coliseum. Jackpot.
Building Our Game Plan
With that anchor date, I pieced it together backward:
- Regionals: March 8-11 across local high schools
- Quarterfinals: March 13-14 at smaller arenas
- Semis/Finals: March 17-22 all in Charleston
Immediately texted my brother to block March 20-22 on his calendar since his kid will cry if we miss Class AAA finals. Booked a refundable hotel near the coliseum that same hour.
Dodging Disaster
Almost messed up Thursday thinking finals ended Saturday March 22nd. Nearly booked flights home Sunday. Then remembered reading somewhere last year went till Saturday night. Could’ve stranded us in Charleston! Triple-checked email threads confirming no Sunday games. Lesson: Championship week always ends Saturday. Period.
Now our crew’s locked in for quarters onward. Still arguing over pizza places near the arena though. That’s next week’s battle.
