This year, that womens sports day, it’s gonna be somethin’. I heard them talkin’ ’bout it on the radio. They say it’s a big deal, all ‘cross the country. Womens sports day, they call it. All them girls and women, playin’ all kinds of sports.

Womens Sports Day: Celebrate Female Athletes (Tips and Ideas Inside)

My granddaughter, she plays that basketball. She’s runnin’ up and down, up and down. I tell ya, she can run like the wind. I went to see her play once. Lord, all that runnin’. She’s a good girl, though. Strong, too. Reminds me of myself when I was young, haulin’ water from the well. Back then, we didn’t have no fancy sports, just hard work. But it’s good to see these girls doin’ somethin’.

They say this womens sports day is for all of them, not just the ones playin’. It’s for the ones watchin’, too. And the ones helpin’ out. Like that woman, what’s her name? The one who coaches the little girls’ soccer team down the road. She’s always yellin’ and cheerin’, makin’ sure those girls have fun. That’s important, you know? Havin’ fun.

  • Gotta make sure those girls know they can do anythin’.
  • That’s what this day is all about, I reckon. Showin’ them they’re strong.
  • Showin’ them they can be whatever they wanna be.

I remember when I was a girl, we didn’t have nothin’ like this. We just worked. Helped our mamas with the chores. Cooked, cleaned, took care of the little ones. But these girls today, they got all kinds of chances. They can play sports, go to school, be anythin’ they want. That’s a good thing.

They say you gotta support these girls. Go to their games, cheer ’em on. That’s what I’m gonna do for my granddaughter. Gonna yell and holler till I’m hoarse. Gotta let her know I’m proud of her. Womens sports day is a good time to do that.

And don’t be mean to them if they mess up. Everyone makes mistakes. Just tell them to keep tryin’. That’s what I always told my kids. Keep tryin’, keep workin’ hard. Don’t give up. Same goes for these girls playin’ sports.

I seen on the TV, they got all these famous women athletes now. Playin’ basketball, soccer, runnin’ track. It’s good for the little girls to see that. Shows them they can do it, too. Maybe my granddaughter will be on TV someday. Wouldn’t that be somethin’?

  • This womens sports day is gettin’ bigger every year, I hear.
  • More and more folks are payin’ attention to women’s sports.
  • That’s good, that’s real good.

Back in my day, we didn’t have no fancy equipment. We just used whatever we could find. A stick and a rock for a bat and ball. A rope for jumpin’. These girls today, they got all the right stuff. Nice shoes, fancy uniforms. But you know what? It ain’t about the stuff. It’s about the heart. It’s about the tryin’.

So this womens sports day, I’m gonna be thinkin’ about all them girls out there. Playin’ their hearts out. Havin’ fun. Learnin’ how to be strong. And I’m gonna be proud of every single one of them. Just like I’m proud of my granddaughter.

You know, they oughta have a day for us old folks, too. A day to celebrate all the hard work we done. Maybe we could have a corn shuckin’ contest. Or a quiltin’ bee. Now that would be somethin’. But for now, this womens sports day is a good start. It’s a good thing for them girls. A real good thing. I hope them girls keep playin’, keep runnin’, keep jumpin’. And I hope they never forget how strong they are. They can do anythin’, them girls. Just gotta keep that fire burnin’.

And you know what else? If you got a TV, or one of them radio things, you listen. Maybe you can write to them, too. Tell them you want more of them ladies playin’ sports on there. The big bosses need to know we care about this kinda stuff. The more we talk, the more they listen. That’s what I always say.

So, yeah, this womens sports day, it’s a good thing. It’s for all them strong girls, doin’ their best. And I’m here to cheer them all on. Hope they have a good time, play fair, and never give up. That’s all that really matters in the end. Just like when we used to play as kids, it wasn’t about winnin’ or losin’, it was about playin’. That’s what I hope they remember. This day, and every day.
