Alright, so, I’ve been messing around with fantasy basketball drafts lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I started out by just grabbing some of the big names, you know, the usual suspects. I did some mock drafts first. That helped me a ton in understanding the flow, and where players are usually getting picked.

Then I started diving into some rankings I found online, for both points and categories. These lists give you a general idea of how players are expected to perform. Some websites also provide projections, it is a data table of players’ performance, but it is kinda roughly, you know, it’s just for a general view. And I also read some players’ profiles to get known with them.
Digging Deeper for Hidden Gems
But here’s the thing: everybody and their mom is going to try and snag those top-tier guys. So, I thought, “How can I get an edge?” That’s when I started looking into rookies and sleepers.
I came across this guy Alex who’s apparently some kind of fantasy basketball guru. He had a whole list of rookies and sleepers to target for the 2024-2025 season. I spent a good chunk of time cross-referencing his picks with the rankings I had. He named some of the best NBA rookies to pick. Man, I spent a lot of time, but it worth it. I found some rookies with huge potential that most people were overlooking.
And then, I found this other dude, Dan. This guy breaks down his rankings into tiers, which is super helpful. It basically shows you groups of players that are similar in value, so you can make smarter decisions on the fly. He also lists some sleepers and draft targets for 2024-2025 drafts. I used his tiered rankings as my draft guide. It helped me out.
Expert Opinions and Unconventional Wisdom
I wasn’t just relying on these two guys, though. I found a bunch of articles where these so-called “experts” were dishing out their top sleeper picks. I’m talking about folks like Andr Snellings, Eric Moody, Eric Karabell, Jim McCormick, and Steve Alexander. I read all their articles, and wrote down their suggestions. I figure, the more opinions, the better, right?
One of the interesting things I stumbled upon was this website that was talking about Ja Morant as a sleeper. I mean, the dude’s a two-time All-Star! But apparently, because of some off-court stuff, his draft stock had dipped. It’s always interesting to me that unexpected news will affect a player’s performance. That got me thinking about how you gotta factor in all sorts of things, not just on-court performance.
Comparing Average Draft Positions
The last thing I did was compare the average draft positions (ADP) of players across different platforms, like ESPN and Yahoo. It’s interesting to see where there are discrepancies. Sometimes you can find a guy who’s going a round or two later on one platform compared to another. I wrote down the data into a sheet. That is also a kind of strategy to find value, right?
So yeah, that’s basically what I’ve been up to. It’s been a lot of reading, researching, and comparing, but it is fun. Hopefully, all this work will pay off when the actual draft rolls around. We’ll see how it goes!
