Alright folks, today I wanted to nail down Alcoa High’s football games for this fall and figure out when things get serious with the playoffs. Easy, right? Yeah, not so much at first.
The Starting Point
Woke up thinking about heading back to see some Alcoa football this season. Totally blanked on the actual dates though. Grabbed my coffee, plopped down at the kitchen table with my laptop fired up. Figured ten minutes, tops.
Firing Up the Search
Opened up the browser. Typed ‘Alcoa High School football schedule 2024’ right into the search bar. Smashed Enter. Got a ton of results back. Started clicking.
- First link: Led to some sports news site talking about last year’s championship run. Old news. Closed it fast.
- Second link: Took me to the general school district calendar. Had holidays and teacher workdays, but zilch on specific sports games. Useless.
- Third link: Some fancy stats website. Wanted me to sign up and pay just to see when they play? No way. Hit back instantly.
Started getting annoyed. Coffee was getting cold too. Seriously hard to find basic game times?
Hitting the Jackpot
Took a breath, scrolled down a bit further on the search page. Saw one titled ‘Alcoa Tornadoes Official Athletics Schedule’. That sounded more promising. Clicked it.
Boom! Finally, the real deal. Alcoa High School’s own athletics page came up. No paywall, no signing in. Just a clean page.
Digging In
Scrolled down looking for football. Found a section clearly marked ‘Fall Sports’ and there it was: ‘Football’. Clicked that.
Scrolled through a list of teams – Varsity, JV, Freshman. Clicked on ‘Varsity Football Schedule’.
Perfect. There it all was. Whole season laid out nice and clear:
- First game: Home vs. Some Rival Team – August 23rd
- That big away game everyone talks about: September 13th
- Senior Night: October 18th at home
- Final regular game: October 25th away
The Playoffs Question
Okay, got the games. But when does the playoff madness kick off? Scanned the page. Saw a tiny ‘Postseason Information’ link tucked near the bottom. Almost missed it. Clicked it.
Found the details: TN State Playoffs start November 1st. Simple as that. They even had a note saying game times depend on seeding and will be posted later.
Mission Accomplished
Jotted down the key home game dates on my kitchen calendar, especially that first playoff week. Feeling prepped now. Took maybe twenty-five minutes longer than it should have, thanks to those useless early links, but we got there.
