Alright so this Saturday my kid decided he’s the next LeBron James overnight. Woke me up at 7 AM bouncing a ball against the garage door. Figured okay, maybe finding a decent basketball camp would shut him up for five minutes. Started digging around online. USC’s name popped up – figured why not, decent program usually.

Actually Finding the Sign-Up Thing
First hurdle? Finding the dang sign-up page. Went straight to the USC Athletics site. Yeah, big mistake. That place is like a maze built by squirrels. Clicked on “Camps,” saw a million links for football, swimming, even rowing. Scrolled forever, nearly gave up. Finally spotted “Men’s Basketball” tucked away like they were hiding it.
Making the Choice (and Paying Up!)
Clicked through and boom – several camps listed. Summer ones, weekends, skills clinics. Looked at the 2025 Summer Youth Camp dates. Okay cool, late July. Price tag… oof. Definitely not pocket change. Saw the “Register Now” button, figured no turning back now. Here we go:
- Clicked Register: Straightforward enough.
- Filled in Kid Details: Name, age, grade – the usual stuff. Easy peasy.
- Parent Info Time: Phone, email, address. Double-checked the email for sure.
- The Money Part: Held my breath. Entered the card digits. Clicked “Submit Payment.” Whew, confirmation page popped up fast. Thank goodness.
After the Click – The Paperwork Avalanche
Thought I was done? Ha. Joke was on me. Within 2 minutes, my email blew up. Seriously.
- Payment Confirmation: Good, needed that peace of mind.
- Next Steps Email: Buried under the celebration. Opened it… yeah, more work.
- Health Forms: Oh boy. Insurance details? Doctor’s info? Forms to download? Feels like applying for a government clearance.
- Waivers: Injury waiver, liability waiver, photo release… probably a waiver promising the kid won’t try to dunk yet. Sigh. Printing, signing, scanning… screenshots galore probably needed.
- What to Bring List: At least this was useful. Water bottle, ball, lunch. Marked my calendar to remind him constantly.
Job… Mostly Done?
So yeah, clicking “Register” took seconds. The real work started after hitting submit. Forms, emails, deadlines – it’s a whole project now. Feels less like signing up for camp, more like signing a treaty. Guess I gotta block off time this weekend to tackle all those documents they just dumped on me. Hopefully, the little guy remembers how much effort this was when he’s tearing up the court… or at least remembers to tie his shoelaces.
