Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into fantasy baseball lately, and let me tell you, figuring out hitter rankings is a whole thing. I started off feeling totally lost, not gonna lie. There are just so many players and so much data. But I was determined to get a handle on it, so I rolled up my sleeves and got to work.

First, I gathered all the resources I could find. I mean everything. I opened up a bunch of stat websites, fantasy baseball guides, and even some old-school spreadsheets from last year. I even dusted off some baseball history books to try and get some context for how players change year-over-year. My desk was a mess, covered in papers and open tabs, but hey, gotta do what you gotta do, right?
Then, I started sorting through the players. I focused on the big names first, the guys everyone knows. I looked at their stats from last season—home runs, RBIs, batting average, all that good stuff. I compared their numbers, tried to see patterns, and made notes about who seemed like a safe bet and who was maybe a bit of a gamble.
- Created spreadsheets—lots of them. One for each position, one for overall rankings, you name it.
- Color-coded everything. Yeah, I’m that person. Green for the sure things, yellow for the maybes, and red for the “stay away” players.
- Read a ton of articles. Like, seriously, a ton. Expert opinions, fan forums, you name it. I wanted to see what everyone else was thinking.
Next, I dug deeper into the less obvious players. This was where things got really interesting. I started looking at things like their age, their team situation, and even their injury history. I even checked out some spring training reports to see who was looking good. It was a lot of detective work, but it was kind of fun, to be honest.
After all that, I finally put together my own rankings. It wasn’t easy, and I probably changed my mind like a hundred times, but I eventually got to a point where I felt pretty good about it. I’m using them in my first game. It feels great to have a plan and not just be picking names out of a hat.
My Current Top 5 Hitters
- Mike Trout
- Mookie Betts
- Juan Soto
- Ronald Acuna Jr.
- Freddie Freeman
Of course, these are just my opinions, and things can change throughout the season. But I feel like I’ve got a solid foundation now, and I’m actually pretty excited to see how my picks do. It’s been a wild ride, but I’ve learned a ton, and I’m definitely feeling more confident about my fantasy baseball skills. I will share my following game records in the future.
