Finding Out About the Showcase
So I got a call from Coach Dave last Thursday. He knows my kid’s trying to play college ball. Told me about this unsigned seniors thing in Chicago next month. Coach said college scouts actually show up there, unlike those money-grabbing camps. I jumped on Google right away.

Registration Headaches
First I tried their main site. Total mess. Links led to error pages and the sign-up button was broken. Emailed them twice – no reply after three days. Almost gave up till Mike from my son’s AAU team texted me: “Yo you gotta call Trina at (312) number! She handles registrations.”
Trina picked up on first ring. Turns out you need two things to even apply:
- Full season game tape
- Coach recommendation uploaded directly
Coach Dave did my kid’s letter same day. But guess what? Our Hudl account didn’t work when uploading. Took 48 hours fixing that password reset crap.
Video Nightmares
Editing game film almost killed me. The showcase rules said:must include defensive plays, but my kid’s tape was all highlight dunks. Spent whole Saturday cutting clips with this free editor. Render took forever. Upload failed twice Sunday night. Finally got confirmation email at 2am when the site wasn’t busy.
Three Big Mistakes I Made
Learned the hard way:
- Don’t wait until deadline week – site crashes
- Scouts care more about defense tapes than flashy plays
- Always call them instead of emailing
Just got the acceptance yesterday. Took three weeks total. My kid’s thrilled. Better than paying $500 for those fake exposure camps. Worth all the hassle seeing his name on participant list.
