Alright, so today I decided to dive into the world of fantasy football stats. You know, get a better handle on the numbers, maybe get an edge in my league. Here’s how it went down:

Getting Started
First, I needed to figure out where to get the data. I started by searching for free data sources. I’ve played around with NFL data before, so I am sure there are free sources.
I needed something reliable, and ideally, something updated regularly during the season.
Digging into the Data
Once I find a few potential websites, I started exploring.
- Basic Stats: I looked at the obvious stuff first – passing yards, rushing touchdowns, receptions, things that every fantasy player knows.
- Advanced Metrics:Then things got a bit more interesting like looking at things like yards per carry, target share (how often a player is thrown to), and even air yards (how far the ball travels in the air before being caught). Those can be really helpful for spotting potential breakout players.
- Consistency is Key: I wasn’t just interested in who had the biggest games. I also checked the players’ game logs. Was a player scoring consistently, or did they have one huge game that was skewing their overall numbers? I want reliable points, week after week.
- Matchup Analysis: I started to see how certain players performed against specific defenses. Some teams are tough against the run, others struggle against the pass. That’s good information when setting the lineup.
Making it Useful
After, I imported data to excel, and created some charts. I used conditional formatting, to highlight players with increasing or decreasing performance trends.
It was a good day of digging through numbers. Now, I just need to apply it and see if my hard work pays off on game day. Wish my team luck!
