Hey, you young folks! You know that Fortnite basketball emote? Yeah, that’s what I’m gonna talk about. It’s a game, you see, that my grandson plays all the time. I don’t get it, but he seems to like it a lot. He’s always talking about skins and V-Bucks. Sounds like a lot of nonsense to me!

So this Fortnite, it’s got all sorts of things. Dances, skins, emotes, whatever that means. I see my grandson doing these weird dances in the game. One of them is that basketball emote. He bounces a ball, shoots it, all that stuff. I guess it’s fun for them.
He says there are these things called “challenges.” You gotta do stuff to get rewards. Like this basketball thing, he had to dance at a basketball court in the game. I asked him, “Why don’t you just go play real basketball?” He just laughed. Kids these days!
I heard him say something about “NBA” and “Fortnite” together. Sounds like they put basketball players in the game. He was excited about some “NBA 75 All-Star hub”. Don’t know what that is, but it’s probably just more stuff for him to spend money on. Gotta unlock these “outfits” and “Back Bling” things. It’s all a big mystery to me. He always say that I can get some free codes. Free is good. I like free.
- Fortnite got dances.
- Fortnite got basketball.
- Fortnite got NBA players.
- Fortnite got challenges.
They got these things called “codes” too. You can use them to get free stuff in the game. My grandson is always looking for them. He says they give you sprays and emotes, like that basketball emote. He said the “Baller” is a good one and need some “V-bucks”. He said it’s rare. I don’t know what’s so rare about a digital basketball, but okay. He’s happy, that’s all that matters.
There’s another thing called a “Battle Pass.” More money to spend, I guess. I don’t understand. My grandson tried to explain it to me, but it’s like he’s speaking a different language. It’s from “Chapter 1 Season 4” and “Season 5”. It’s too complicated. He said that you can get a basketball toy from it. A toy? It is just a game, right? Why they call it a toy?
I remember one time he was trying to do a challenge where he had to “emote” at a basketball court. He was running around in the game, looking for this court. He said, “Grandma, I gotta find the basketball court!” I told him to go outside and play some real basketball, but he wouldn’t listen.
He showed me how to do the emote once. You press some buttons, and your character does a little dance with a basketball. It’s kinda silly, but he likes it. He gets all excited when he completes these challenges. I guess it’s like winning a game. They say that this emote will return to the “Item Shop” in the game. Whatever this “Item Shop” is.
He told me that in the game, there is a “Fancy Basketball”. I think it is expensive. He is always talking about it. I don’t know what is so fancy about a ball in a game. But these kids like to collect these things.
One time, he spent hours trying to get this basketball emote. He was so frustrated! I told him, “It’s just a game! Don’t get so worked up!” But he wouldn’t listen. He finally got it, though. He was so happy. He showed it to me, doing the little dance with the basketball. I gotta admit, it was kinda cute.
He says there’s different ways to get these emotes. You can buy them, you can earn them, you can get them from codes. It’s all very confusing. I just tell him to be careful with his money. These games can be expensive, you know. And he always said he can get them for free. He just needs to find the code.
Fortnite and basketball, it’s a strange combination. But the kids love it. My grandson is always playing it, always talking about it. He’s got his friends who play it too. They all talk about it together. They have their own little world in that game.
I still don’t really get it, but it is not hurting anyone, I guess. Kids need something to do. And it is good for him to play games with his friends. He said his friends all got this basketball emote. I don’t know. As long as he’s happy, I’m happy. And he also needs to do his homework. That is important. He always forgets.
So yeah, that’s the Fortnite basketball emote. It’s a thing. A thing the kids like. A thing that costs money. A thing that makes my grandson happy. That’s all I know. It is a mystery to me, like many things these days. I just hope he doesn’t spend all his money on it! These young people and their video games…
