This morning my husband mentioned the UNCW baseball schedule popped up on ESPN, so I grabbed my laptop thinking “let’s print that thing out for the garage fridge.” Figured it’d take two minutes. Boy was I wrong.
The Annoying Search Begins
First stop? Obvious choice – UNCW’s athletics page. I typed “UNCW Baseball 2025 schedule” straight into Google. Official site link shows up top. Clicked it feeling confident. Landed on this flashy homepage full of basketball news and ticket promos. Zero baseball. Seriously? Baseball season’s coming up!
Scrolled down, clicked “Sports” dropdown. Selected baseball. Got taken to a general team info page – rosters, coach bios, old news articles. Still no schedule. Saw a “Schedule” tab in the menu bar. Hope! Clicked it. Page loads… and shows last season’s games. October 2024 dates right there. C’mon guys!
Playing Detective with the Website
Started clicking everything. “News”? Nope. “Tickets”? Nah. Noticed a tiny “View PDF” link near the bottom of a unrelated article about field renovations. Got excited. Clicked it. Boom – “2021 Field Maintenance *”. Useless. Felt like finding old socks instead of my sneakers.
Tried the search bar ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE. Typed “2025 baseball schedule pdf”. Got ten results, mostly about softball or swim meets. Clicked the one promising result…”Page Not Found.” Great. Closed the laptop. Almost quit.
Finally Hit Paydirt
Made some coffee. Came back grumpy. Refreshed the schedule page just in case. Magic! Right under last season’s grid, teeny tiny text: “View 2025 PDF Schedule”. Blended into the background like camouflage. My bad. Smacked my forehead. Clicked it fast before it disappeared.
A new tab opened. PDF loaded smooth. Beautiful grid format, dates, opponents, locations – perfect. But then… the printer icon in the browser toolbar? Grayed out. That Adobe Acrobat download? Asking me to log in or subscribe. Nope.
Getting Physical Copies the Easy Way
Okay, deep breath. Right-clicked the open PDF document itself. Saw “Print…” option. Clicked that. Print window popped up instantly, no fuss. Selected our kitchen printer. Printed three copies – fridge, his workshop, my desk.
While the printer was chugging, realized I could save it too. Same right-click menu: “Save As”. Plopped it right on my desktop, named it “UNCW_Baseball_2025_FINAL_*”. Done.
The Dumb Simple Solution All Along
Turns out the easiest way was just finding the damn PDF link and right-clicking it directly on the page. Could’ve “Save Link As…” to download instantly without opening, or “Print Target” to send it straight to the printer. Whole circus with pop-ups avoided if I’d done that first.
Feel kinda silly now. Lesson learned: next time, right-click first, ask questions later. Garage fridge looks official though. Success!
