Ultimate Guide to Mock Draft Football (Best Players and Teams to Watch)

Alright, so I wanted to try out this whole “mock draft” thing for football. I’ve seen people talking about it online, and it seemed like a fun way to get more into the game and maybe learn a bit more about the players and teams.

Ultimate Guide to Mock Draft Football (Best Players and Teams to Watch)

First, I had to figure out where to even do this. I went on a few different websites. Some of them were confusing, with a bunch of numbers and stats that I didn’t really get. But eventually, I found one that seemed pretty straightforward. It was made for this sort of thing and had a big “Start Your Mock Draft” button. Perfect.

Once I got started, it was a bit overwhelming. So many players to choose from! I mostly went off the names I recognized, but even then, there were so many rounds to get through. I also quickly realized that you kind of need to know what each team needs. Like, if a team already has a great quarterback, you probably shouldn’t pick another one for them. I definitely messed that up a few times.

  • Choose a draft platform: I looked around at a couple of sites, and picked the one that was the least confusing.
  • Start the draft: This was pretty easy, just had to click a button.
  • Pick players: This was the hard part! I mostly picked players I’d heard of before, but I probably made some bad choices.
  • Learn as you go: I figured out pretty fast that you need to know what each team is looking for, or you’ll end up making silly picks.

I spent a good chunk of my afternoon on this. It was actually pretty fun, even though I’m sure my draft was a total mess. I did start to get a better feel for the players, though. And I could see why people get so into this. It’s like a game within the game.

I also had to choose the number of rounds I wanted to do the mock draft for. This is actually a super important step in this. I chose 7 rounds but realized halfway through that it was too much work. I suggest going with 3 rounds to get started.

What I learned

To wrap it up, here are some random things I picked up:

  • It is super important to know the order of the draft in advance.
  • It is necessary to know the needs of each team.
  • Choosing the right platform is important.
  • It is fun but takes some time to do a mock draft.

I think I’ll try this again sometime, maybe when I know a little more about what I’m doing. It’s a cool way to get more involved with football, even if you’re not an expert. Plus, it’s kind of addictive once you get into it!
