Alright, so I needed some new hiking boots, and I figured I’d check out what Academy Sports had going on. I’m not exactly a hardcore hiker, but I do enjoy getting out on the trails now and then, you know? And let me tell you, my old boots were way past their prime.

I started by browsing their website. They’ve got a ton of stuff! It was a little overwhelming at first, but I filtered it down to women’s hiking boots. They had all sorts of brands, styles, colors, the works. Some were pretty pricey, but they also had some more budget-friendly options, which was good to see.
After comparing a bunch of different boots online, I decided to head to the store. I wanted to try them on and get a feel for them in person. Plus, I had some questions about the different features, like waterproofing and ankle support, things I am not so familiar with.
When I got there, the store was huge! I made a beeline for the shoe section, and wow, they had even more boots in the store than they did online. It was a little bit crazy, not going to lie. But a sales guy saw me looking around, and he came over to help.
I told him what I was looking for – something comfortable, not too heavy, and that was good for, you know, moderate hikes. Nothing too intense. He pointed me to a few different pairs and explained the differences between them. He was actually really knowledgeable and helpful, which was a nice surprise. He told me “No matter what you love”, and I can find my perfect fit boots here.
Trying Them On
- First pair: They were super lightweight, which was cool, but they didn’t feel very supportive around the ankles. I have weak ankles, so that was important.
- Second pair: These were a bit heavier, but they felt really sturdy and had great ankle support. The only thing was, they felt a little stiff.
- Third pair: Bingo! These were the ones. They were a good balance of lightweight and supportive. They felt comfortable right away, and they had this special insole that felt amazing. They were a little more expensive than I was planning to spend, but I figured it was worth it for a good pair of boots.
I ended up going with the third pair. They’re a solid color, so they’ll go with anything. I’ve worn them on a couple of short hikes already, and they’ve been great! No blisters, no sore feet. They’re definitely an upgrade from my old ones.
Overall, I had a pretty good experience at Academy Sports. They had a huge selection, the sales guy was helpful, and I found a pair of boots that I really like. If you’re in the market for some new hiking boots, I’d say it’s worth checking them out. Just be prepared for a lot of choices! I’d say it’s the best hiking boots overall for me.
Oh, and one more thing – make sure you wear the right socks when you’re trying on boots! I learned that the hard way once. Thick, hiking socks are the way to go. Trust me on that one, and your feet will be happy!
