Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get a leg up on my fantasy football league this year. I mean, last season was rough. I did okay, but I know I could have done better. So, I decided to check out this NFL fantasy draft simulator thing I heard about. Let me tell you about how it went.

First off, I found a simulator. There are a bunch of them out there. Just gotta pick one, you know? They all pretty much do the same thing, but some have a few extra bells and whistles.
Once I picked one, I started playing around with the settings. You can usually choose things like the number of teams in your league, the scoring system, and the roster positions. I made sure everything matched up with my actual league, so I could get the most realistic practice possible. You can even set it up with keepers if your league uses those.
After I got all the settings dialed in, I started a mock draft. It’s pretty cool how it works. The simulator basically acts as all the other teams in your league. You’re drafting against a bunch of bots. When it’s your turn, you just pick the player you want from a list of available players. The simulator will draft players for the other teams based on some sort of logic and some draft rankings.
- I did a few mock drafts, trying out different strategies.
- One time I went heavy on running backs early.
- Another time I waited on quarterback and loaded up on receivers.
It’s a bit of a guessing game, but doing these mock drafts gave me a good feel for where players might go in the real draft. You start to see trends and get an idea of when you might need to grab a certain position.
What I Learned
Honestly, using a fantasy draft simulator was pretty helpful. I mean, I didn’t magically become a fantasy football guru or anything, but I definitely feel more prepared for my real draft. It’s like getting some practice swings in before a big game.
I wouldn’t say it’s a perfect system, though. The bots in the simulator don’t always make the same choices that real people would.
And of course, there’s always the unpredictable nature of the actual NFL.
Injuries happen, players bust, and unexpected things occur.
No simulator can account for all of that.
But at the very least, it was a fun way to kill some time and get ready for the fantasy season!
Maybe I will win the game this time.
