Today, I got this crazy idea to make some tennis ball candy. It’s not related to those electronic tennis games like “Tennis for Two” or the funny colorful tennis games you can play. This is all about turning something that looks like a tennis ball into a sweet treat.

First, I gathered my ingredients. I needed something for the core that would resemble a tennis ball, so I grabbed some round cake pops. For the outer layer, I decided on green-colored white chocolate – you know, to get that classic tennis ball color. I also got some white chocolate to draw those signature lines.
I started by melting the green-colored white chocolate. This took a bit of patience because you don’t want to burn it. While the chocolate was melting, I took the cake pops and made sure they were nice and cold. This helps the chocolate stick better.
- Once the chocolate was ready, I dipped each cake pop into the melted green chocolate. I made sure they were fully coated, then placed them on a tray lined with parchment paper.
- Next, I melted some regular white chocolate. I put it into a piping bag with a fine tip. This was for drawing those curved lines on the tennis balls, just like the real ones.
- After the green chocolate had set a bit, I carefully piped the white lines onto each cake pop. It was a bit tricky to get them looking right, but I think I did okay for a first try.
Making the Tennis Ball Look
I let the candies cool in the fridge for about an hour. I was so excited to see how they turned out. When I took them out, they looked pretty cool! The green was bright, and the white lines really made them look like mini tennis balls. I was pretty proud of my work, even though it’s not exactly a professional PIF ATP Rankings achievement or something you’d see from Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal.
Tasting them was the best part. The combination of the cake pop and the chocolate was delicious. It was a fun little project, and I think I’ll try it again sometime, maybe with different colors or designs. It’s not quite like playing in the Australian Open, Wimbledon, or the US Open, but hey, it’s a sweet victory in its own way. I guess you could say it’s a bit like those exclusive deals in a webshop, but in the world of homemade treats.
And who knows, maybe this will inspire someone to create the next “Tennis for Two” in the candy world! Until then, I’ll just enjoy my tennis ball candies and maybe come up with some other crazy candy ideas.
