Okay so I needed a new workout top last month because my old one looked like it went through a cheese grater. Stumbled on this Sport Tek zip-up during a clearance sale online – lightweight and cheap? Sign me up. Figured I’d give it a real test before telling y’all about it.

First Impressions Out the Package
Unboxed it and immediately noticed how thin the material felt. Like, super thin but not see-through thin which was a win. Held it up and thought “damn this feels flimsy” but stretched the fabric between my hands anyway. Surprisingly springy! Did the sniff test too – no weird factory chemical smell either.
Wearing It Through the Wringer
Tested it three ways:
- Morning runs: Threw it on for 5am jogs when it’s still kinda chilly. The quarter-zip let me adjust ventilation real easy when I started sweating buckets. Pockets held my keys without bounce!
- Gym sessions: Wore it deadlifting and on the row machine. Underarms didn’t ride up when reaching overhead which always annoys me.
- Post-workout errands: Went grocery shopping straight after leg day. Zero swampy back patches even though I was drenched earlier.
After 10+ Washes Later
Tossed it in the regular laundry every time – no fancy care crap. Hung dry sometimes, machine dried others. Didn’t shrink weirdly and kept its shape even though the fabric felt delicate. The zipper still glides smooth too.
What Rocks:
- Crazy light like wearing air
- Pockets actually stay shut while running
- Washes like a champ
- Cheaper than protein powder
Annoying Bits:
- Sizing runs big – I should’ve sized down
- No thumbholes which my cold fingers miss
- Wish it came in brighter colors
Bottom line? For fifteen bucks it’s become my grab-and-go top for anything active. Not fancy but gets the job done without falling apart. Already bought two backups since testing this one.
