Heading Out to the Field
So Friday night rolled around and I figured I’d catch my nephew’s big football game. Grabbed my old video camera from the closet – dusted it off real quick – and drove over to Silver Creek High’s field. Place was packed! Had to park way down the street.

Set up near the end zone with the tripod I almost forgot at home. Batteries died halfway through the first quarter – total panic move. Ran back to my truck to dig out spare AAs from the glovebox. Made it back just in time to catch our boys intercepting the ball at the 20-yard line!
The Game Action
Man, that #22 kid from Silver Creek? Absolute beast mode. Saw him break through three tackles for a 50-yard touchdown run. My camera nearly fell over when the stands exploded cheering. Got some shaky footage but you can still see him high-stepping into the end zone.
Then during third quarter, our defense pulled off this crazy goal-line stand. Fourth down, one yard to go – their running back tried jumping over the pile and BOOM! Our linebacker knocked him straight back. Crowd went bananas and I was screaming so loud I forgot I was recording for a solid ten seconds.
Final whistle blew at 34-14. Whole team rushed the field hugging and tossing helmets. Caught the QB crying happy tears while chewing his mouthguard. Classic stuff.
Editing Nightmare
Took forever to upload all the footage when I got home. My ancient laptop kept freezing up every time I tried trimming clips. Wound up:
- Cutting out 75% of my own yelling commentary
- Slowing down the best touchdown for frame-by-frame
- Adding some hype music my nephew said the team listens to pre-game
Rendered it like eight times because the audio kept desyncing. Finally got a clean version around 2am drinking cheap energy drinks.
Releasing the Highlights
Put the finished video up this morning tagged #silvercreekwarriors. Already got texts from three moms asking for raw footage of their kids. Might have to charge ’em coffee money next time – this highlight reel stuff eats up serious hours!
Honestly? Worth every minute though. Seeing those kids’ faces when they make big plays? Best dang Friday night I’ve had in months.
