Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post, following your guidelines:

So, I decided to tackle this whole “ranking NFL wide receivers” thing. It sounded fun, and I figured, hey, I watch enough football, I can do this! Turns out, it’s a little more involved than just picking your favorites.
First, I started by gathering data. I mean, you can’t just rank people based on vibes, right? I needed stats. Lots of stats.
I pulled up a bunch of websites – you know, the usual suspects for sports stats. I was looking for everything: receptions, receiving yards, touchdowns, yards per catch… you name it, I probably looked at it. I even dove into some of those “advanced stats” like yards after catch and contested catch rate. I felt like a real analyst for a minute there.
Building My Spreadsheet (The Fun Part… Kind Of)
Then came the fun part… spreadsheets! Okay, maybe “fun” is a strong word. But I do get a weird satisfaction from organizing data. I created a new spreadsheet and started dumping all the stats in there. It was a mess at first, just a wall of numbers. But slowly, I started to create my categories.
- Column A: Player Name (obviously)
- Column B:Receptions
- Column C: Receiving Yards
- Column D: Touchdowns
- and keep going….
I made different categories like “Total Yards,” “Average Yards Per Catch,” and even a column for “My Totally Subjective Opinion” (which I later decided to mostly ignore). It was a thing of beauty, at least to me.
I looked for a way to sort all this stuff. It took me many times. and tried to combine the datas and give them scores.
After many attempts, I felt so close to make it. The top wide receivers are just show up.
It was a cool little project. Showed me that even something that seems simple on the surface can get pretty complex when you dig into it. Plus, I learned a few new things about wide receivers, which is always a bonus! I definitely improved my skills using spreadsheets.
