Rankings of Fantasy Football Players: Updated Weekly (Simple Guide to Drafting the Best Team)

So, I decided to dive into this whole fantasy football thing. The title of my experiment for today is “rankings of fantasy football players”. I’ve heard a lot about it, and it sounded like a fun challenge. Honestly, I didn’t know much about football, let alone fantasy football, but hey, how hard could it be?

Rankings of Fantasy Football Players: Updated Weekly (Simple Guide to Drafting the Best Team)

First off, I needed to figure out what fantasy football even is. Turns out, it’s like being a team manager but without all the real-life pressure. You pick real players, make up your own team, and their actual game performance scores you points. Cool, right?

I started by gathering some data. I just went online and searched for some recent NFL player stats. There’s a ton of websites out there that have all this info, so it wasn’t too tough to find. I grabbed a bunch of names, their teams, positions, and some basic stats like touchdowns, yards, and stuff like that. I just copied them into a spreadsheet to keep things organized.

Next up, I had to figure out how to rank these guys. I mean, there had to be some logic to it, right? I couldn’t just randomly slap some numbers on them. So, I decided to keep it simple. I focused on a few key stats that seemed important, like touchdowns and total yards. I figured players who scored more and moved the ball further were probably better, right?

Then came the fun part – creating a scoring system. I thought, why not give them points based on these stats? I assigned some arbitrary values, like 6 points for a touchdown and 1 point for every 10 yards. It’s probably not how the pros do it, but it made sense to me. I added up all these points for each player, and that became their “fantasy score”.

With the scores in hand, ranking them was a piece of cake. I just sorted the spreadsheet by the fantasy score column, and bam, there’s my ranking! The player with the highest score was at the top, and so on. It was actually pretty satisfying to see it all come together.

Here is what my top 5 players looked like:

  • Player A – Quarterback – Score: 350

Lots of touchdowns and huge yardage. This guy was a beast!

  • Player B – Running Back – Score: 320

Tons of rushing yards and quite a few touchdowns. Solid performer.

  • Player C – Wide Receiver – Score: 300

Caught a lot of passes and scored consistently.

  • Player D – Quarterback – Score: 285

Another strong quarterback with good all-around stats.

  • Player E – Running Back – Score: 270

Not as many touchdowns, but very reliable for yardage.

Now, I know this is super basic, and real fantasy football probably involves way more strategy and stats. But for a first try, I was pretty happy with how it turned out. It was a fun little project, and I learned a bit about football along the way. Maybe I’ll even try joining a league next season, who knows? But for now, I’ve got my own little ranking system, and that’s good enough for me.
