PPR Rankings 2023: Who to Draft in Fantasy Football?

Okay, so I’ve been getting really into fantasy football lately, and I wanted to figure out this whole “PPR rankings” thing. PPR stands for “Points Per Reception,” which basically means your players get extra points every time they catch the ball. Seemed simple enough, right? Wrong! There’s a whole world of strategy behind it.

PPR Rankings 2023: Who to Draft in Fantasy Football?

First, I started by just Googling “PPR rankings fantasy football.” I found a bunch of lists, but honestly, they were all over the place. One site had a guy ranked way higher than another site, and it was making my head spin. So I decided to take a more hands-on approach.

Digging into the Stats

I figured the best way to do this was to look at player stats from last year. I found a site that had all the reception numbers, targets, yards, touchdowns – the works. I spent, I don’t know, hours pouring over this stuff.

  • Targets: I started looking at how many times a player was targeted. More targets usually mean more chances for receptions, right?
  • Receptions: Obviously, this is key in PPR. I focused on players who were consistently catching the ball, not just the guys who might have one big game.
  • Yards and Touchdowns: These still matter, even in PPR. A guy who catches 10 passes for 20 yards isn’t as valuable as a guy who catches 8 for 80 and a touchdown.

I started making my own little spreadsheet (yeah, I’m a nerd, I know). I listed out the players and started plugging in their stats. I didn’t get super fancy with formulas or anything – I just wanted to get a feel for who the real PPR monsters were.

My “Aha!” Moment

After messing around with the numbers, I started to see some patterns. Certain running backs, especially the ones known for catching passes out of the backfield, were way more valuable in PPR than I initially thought. And some wide receivers, the ones who get tons of short passes, were also shooting up my list.

For example, I noticed that many people are talking about Player A. But after I looked at last seasons’s data, I found actually Player B and Player C are catch a lot of passes every game!

Putting It All Together (My Rankings, Kinda)

I’m not going to give you a full, definitive list of my PPR rankings. Partly because it’s still a work in progress, and partly because, well, I want to win my league! But I can tell you this: Don’t just blindly follow those pre-made lists. Do your own research, look at the stats, and see which players really fit the PPR format. It’s more work, but it’s also way more satisfying when you find those hidden gems that nobody else is talking about. And, it’s way more fun to beat your friends when you put real work into it.

I am keeping updating my sheet, and wish I can get a perfect rank list before our draft day!
