Okay, so today I decided to finally get my act together and prep for my fantasy football draft. I’m in a PPR league, which, for the uninitiated, means “points per reception.” Basically, every time a player catches a pass, they get a point, on top of the usual points for yards and touchdowns. This changes things a lot.

First, I grabbed my laptop and plopped down on the couch. Gotta be comfy for this, right?
I opened up a few of my go-to fantasy football websites. I’m not gonna lie, I mostly just scroll through rankings and articles, hoping some wisdom magically sticks.
Then, I started looking at player projections, specifically targeting guys who are known for catching a ton of passes. Think wide receivers and running backs who are heavily involved in the passing game. Running backs and wide receivers are golden in PPR.
Mock Draft Madness
Next, I jumped into a few mock drafts. This is crucial, people! You gotta practice! It’s like a fire drill for your draft. You get a feel for where players are being picked, and you can test out different strategies.
- In my first mock, I went super heavy on wide receivers early. I figured, “Hey, it’s PPR, gotta get those pass-catchers!”
- In the second mock, I tried to be more balanced, grabbing a running back in the first round and then focusing on receivers.
I took notes on how each mock draft felt. Which team did I like better? Where did I feel weak? What picks did I regret?
The Results
After a solid hours, my eyes are a little blurry, but I feel WAY more prepared. I’ve got a list of players I’m targeting, a good sense of when I need to grab them, and a few different strategies I can use. I am happy with my preparations.
Now, the actual draft? That’s a whole different beast. Anything can happen! But at least I’ve done my homework. Wish me luck!
