Okay, so I wanted to mess around with fantasy basketball rankings for the 2024-25 season. I found out there are different scoring methods, and “Roto” seemed like the most common one.
First, I looked for the top 250 ranked players. I started to write down the players and their usual stats, like points, rebounds, assists. It was a lot of info, honestly.
- Step 1: I started by listing players, like a top 10 and maybe top 25.
- Step 2: Then, I needed to figure out how the scoring works, you know? I saw that in Roto, teams get ranked in each stat category.
- Step 3: After ranking teams, points are given out based on those rankings. Sounds simple, but keeping track was a bit of work.
I made a simple table to keep track of the teams and players. It had columns for points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and so on. I started filling it in with some of my favorite players, just to get a feel for it.
Trying to understand the rankings
Then, I started playing around with the rankings. I would move players up and down the list based on how I thought they would do next season. This is where things got tricky. It’s hard to predict injuries and trades!
After a while, I started to see how my rankings compared to other lists I found. Some were similar, some were totally different. It made me think about how much guesswork goes into this stuff.
Anyway, that’s how I spent my time messing with fantasy basketball rankings. It was a fun little project, and it made me think about the next season a lot more. Now, I have a better idea of how this whole fantasy basketball thing works, especially with the Roto scoring.
Maybe next time, I will check out those college fantasy basketball leagues. The website said their league manager is “easy-to-use and feature-rich”. We will see about that. Also I will continue to research how to improve my list and also try to keep updated with any other changes. Could be a mess, but I am willing to try it out.
