Okay, so today I wanted to figure out who’s on the injured reserve (IR) list in the NFL. It’s kind of a pain to keep track of, especially if you’re in a bunch of fantasy leagues like me. So, I started digging around.

My Manual Search
First, I tried going team by team. Seriously. I went to each team’s official website, clicked around on their roster pages, and looked for anyone with an “IR” designation. Tedious? You bet.
It took me a long time, and honestly, I probably missed some. There’s gotta be a better way, right?
Finding Better Sources
Then I thought, “Wait a minute, there are websites that do this stuff!” So I started googling.
- I found a couple of sports news sites. I looked at the transaction and injury pages and they have a decent listing of the injured players, categorized by team.
- I have to check that the source and data are up to date, because things change fast in the NFL.
Compiling My Own List
So, I used those websites to take notes and created my own list of the players who is on IR.
Manually creating this list, I found it was useful for a quick scan, but it was a pain to put together.
Overall I did this exploration manually, and I believe there’s a more efficient way to gather player information.
