This old lady, I heard people talking ’bout Pippen tennis shoes. What’s that? I know that Pippen, seems like a big shot basketball player. I heard them youngsters say his shoes are somethin’ special. Well, let’s see what’s the big deal with these shoes.
Pippen’s Shoes, Big Thing in 90s
They say these shoes, these Pippen’s, they were big in the 90s. I don’t know about no 90s, but I guess that’s when he played good ball, that Pippen fella. And these shoes ain’t just shoes, they say. They’re like, a piece of history, somethin’ like that. I remember when I was young, we only had one pair of shoes for everything. Now, these young folks, they got shoes for everythin’, even basketball shoes. And these Pippen tennis shoes, they’re supposed to be special.
They got different kinds, too. Some called Nike Air somethin’ somethin’. I saw a picture, they look kinda fancy, all them colors and whatnot. They say each shoe, it’s like, got somethin’ to do with that Pippen’s talent. What’s talent? I guess it’s how good he played. Must be good if they makin’ shoes about him. My grandson, he loves those basketball shoes, he always want new ones, these Pippen tennis shoes.

One of them shoes, they call it the Nike Air Pippen 1 Desert somethin’. Sounds like some fancy name for a shoe. I saw a picture, it’s kinda brown, like the dirt road after it rains. They say it’s a tribute. What’s a tribute? Like a present, I guess. A present to that Pippen fella. Must be a good present, if they makin’ shoes like that. They say it’s got a unique color, somethin’ special about the color.

They say these shoes, you can play in ’em, or you can just wear ’em around. Like them fancy folks in town, showin’ off their shoes. My grandson, he wears his shoes everywhere. To school, to play, even to church sometimes. He’d probably wear these Pippen shoes to bed if I let him. He says they’re good for his street somethin’ game. I don’t know what that is, but he’s always talkin’ about it. He needs new ones, his old ones are all worn out, those Pippen tennis shoes.
I guess these shoes, they’re popular. Like them cakes I make for the church social. Everyone wants a piece. Fans, players, everyone wants these Pippen tennis shoes. I don’t know why, they’re just shoes. But I guess they’re special shoes. Like my Sunday shoes, but for basketball, I reckon. I still remember when my shoes are broken, they are fixed by my old man, not buy the new ones.

Back in my day, shoes were shoes. You wore ’em till they fell apart, then you got new ones. Now, they got shoes for everythin’. Basketball shoes, runnin’ shoes, even shoes for just walkin’ around. And these Pippen shoes, they’re like, somethin’ special. Like a collector’s item, somethin’ you keep on a shelf. My grandson, he keeps his shoes in boxes. Can you believe it? Boxes for shoes. I guess these shoes are a big deal. Everyone’s talkin’ about ’em. My grandson, he won’t stop talkin’ about ’em. He says all his friends got ’em. He wants a pair, too. Maybe for his birthday, I’ll get him a pair. If they ain’t too expensive, that is. These Pippen tennis shoes, they better be worth it. He is always talking about that.
I still don’t understand what’s so special about these shoes. But I guess if it makes my grandson happy, that’s all that matters. He’s a good boy. He deserves a good pair of shoes.
