The School Website Disaster
Went straight to Park High’s official site thinking this would be easy. Big mistake. Found athletics under “Student Life,” clicked football… and landed on last season’s outdated schedule. Tried clicking every menu like “Calendar” and “Sports News” – total mess. Nothing current.
Social Media Rabbit Hole
Next stop: their Facebook page. Scrolled through months of posts – just fundraiser announcements and trophy photos. Their Twitter? Game score updates from October 2022! Then remembered high schools don’t update these regularly.
The Phone Call Shuffle
Grabbed the phone:
- Call 1: Main office transferred me to athletics voicemail
- Call 2: Got a secretary who said “Coach emails it to players” – useless
- Call 3: Finally reached a janitor who gave me the booster club number
Secret Sauce: Talking To Humans
Turned out the booster club president’s wife runs the concession stand. Met her outside the field Tuesday at 4PM when teams practice. She pulled a crumpled paper from her minivan glovebox – bingo! Current season schedule with all game times.
Lessons learned:
- Never trust school websites
- Old folks at games know everything
- Always check the concession stand lady’s minivan
Honestly shocked they make it this hard. Why can’t they just tape a schedule to the field house door?
