Okay, so I’ve been diving into this whole “NFL mock drafts” thing lately, and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride. I figured I’d share my little journey with y’all, from a total newbie to, well, someone who’s still figuring it out but having a blast.
Getting Started
First off, I started looking around, trying to understand what this whole mock draft thing is all about. I started gathering the opinions of NFL draft experts at USA TODAY Sports, The Draft Network. Then I went through the latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft for Week 16 of the 2024 NFL season, and there are some full scouting reports. And then, Mel Kiper Jr. and Field Yates, who are supposedly big deals in this world, were sharing their predictions, so I took a look at what they were saying, too.
It was a lot of information to take in. I felt like I was drowning in team names, player stats, and draft orders. But I kept at it, reading articles, watching videos, and just trying to soak it all up.
Making My First Mock Draft
After a while, I thought, “Why not give it a shot myself?” So, I started putting together my own mock draft. I looked at which teams needed what, who the top players were, and tried to make some educated guesses. I spent hours researching, comparing players, and trying to predict what teams would do.

Sharing and Getting Feedback
Once I had something that resembled a mock draft, I decided to share it online. I was nervous, of course. What if people laughed at my picks? What if I was totally off base? But I figured, what’s the worst that could happen? The Tennessee Titans had just secured the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft in Week 18. I focused on predictions for the first round.
Surprisingly, people were pretty cool about it. Some agreed with my picks, others had different ideas, and we had some good discussions. I even learned a few things from the feedback I got, which was awesome. The interaction with other people passionate about NFL draft is awesome.
Realizing It’s All Just for Fun
The more I got into it, the more I realized that mock drafts are really just a fun way to engage with the NFL draft. Nobody really knows what’s going to happen, and that’s part of the excitement. It’s like a big puzzle, and everyone’s trying to figure it out.
Keeping At It
So, I’m still doing these mock drafts, and I’m still learning a lot. It’s become a bit of a hobby for me. I’m not an expert, and I don’t pretend to be. I am just a fan having fun with the whole process. So far so good.
