NFL Fantasy Football Mock Drafts: Simple Tips & Tricks!

Alright, so today I dove into the world of NFL fantasy football mock drafts. It’s that time of year again, and I wanted to get a head start on prepping for my actual league draft.

NFL Fantasy Football Mock Drafts: Simple Tips & Tricks!

First things first, I needed to find a platform. I’ve used a few different ones before, but I mostly just googled it, I’m pretty sure I just used the first one in the list and that worked good enough.

Once I got into the site, I hopped into a mock draft lobby. I think it was a 12-team, PPR (points per reception) setup, which is pretty standard. I ended up with the 5th pick, not bad, not great.

The Draft Begins!

The first few rounds were a whirlwind. I went with a running back, then snagged a top-tier wide receiver. Gotta get those core positions filled, you know?

  • Round 1: Got a solid RB1.
  • Round 2: Snagged a stud WR.
  • Rounds 3-5: Focused on best player available, trying to build depth.

I made sure to keep an eye on the other teams, seeing what positions they were targeting and trying to anticipate runs on certain positions. There’s a bit of strategy to it, trying to figure out when to grab a guy you want before someone else snatches him up.

Mid-Draft Madness!

The middle rounds are where things get interesting. This is where you’re looking for value picks, guys who might outperform their average draft position (ADP). I grabbed a couple of running backs with upside, a promising rookie wide receiver, and a tight end I think could have a breakout year.

I also made sure to grab a quarterback in a decent round, you don’t want to be stuck with a bottom-of-the-barrel QB.

Filling Out the Roster

Towards the end, it’s all about filling out your roster. Defense, kicker, and some bench players for bye weeks and potential injuries. I usually wait until the very last rounds for defense and kicker, there’s not a huge difference between them.

After it was all said and done, I felt pretty good about my team. Obviously, it’s just a mock draft, and things can change a lot before the real draft. But it’s a good way to get a feel for player values, practice your drafting strategy, and just have some fun.

I did a couple more mock drafts after that, trying out different strategies, like going heavy on wide receivers early, or waiting longer on a quarterback. It’s all about experimenting and seeing what works best for you.
