Okay, so today I decided to do a mock draft for my upcoming NFL fantasy league. It’s a 12-team league, standard scoring, and I’ve got the 5th pick. Let’s dive into how it went!

Preparation is Key (or at least, it should be)
First things first, I logged into the ESPN Fantasy app. I usually use the website, but I figured I’d try the app this time. I found the “Mock Draft” lobby and joined a random 12-team standard draft. Gotta get that practice in, you know?
The Draft Begins!
- Round 1: With the 5th pick, I was hoping for one of the top running backs. Luckily, Austin Ekeler fell to me! Boom, solid start.
- Round 2: I went with a wide receiver here. CeeDee Lamb was still available, so I snapped him up. Feeling pretty good about my top two picks.
- Rounds 3-6: This is where things get interesting. I tried to balance my roster, grabbing a mix of running backs and wide receivers. I ended up with guys like DeAndre Hopkins and James Conner. Not superstars, but solid contributors.
- Round 7: Quarterback time! I usually wait a bit on QBs, and this time was no different. Dak Prescott was there, and I figured, why not? He’s got a good offense around him.
- Rounds 8-15: The later rounds are all about finding value and potential sleepers. I picked up some rookies I liked, a couple of tight ends, and of course, a defense and a kicker. It all a blur looking at high risk high reward, this my tactic for this year.
My Final Roster
After all the picks my Team look like this:
- QB: Dak Prescott
- RB: Austin Ekeler, James Conner
- WR: CeeDee Lamb, DeAndre Hopkins
- TE: Pat Friermuth, Taysom Hill
- FLEX: Picked up a good running back here to fill my empty spot.
- D/ST: Eagles
- K: Younghoe Koo
- Bench: A mix of RBs and WRs for depth and bye weeks.
Post-Draft Thoughts
Overall, I’m pretty happy with how this mock draft went. I feel like I got a good mix of proven players and potential upside guys. Of course, it’s just a mock, and things can change drastically by the time the real draft rolls around. But it’s a good way to get a feel for player values and practice different draft strategies.
Gotta do a few more of these before the real deal! Wish me luck, everyone. I am going to need it!
