Okay, so, let’s talk about swimwear, specifically for us ladies who like to get active in the water. I’ve been on a bit of a mission lately to find some decent suits that can handle more than just lying around by the pool, and I thought I’d share my little adventure with you all.

First off, I started by asking around. I hit up some friends who swim regularly, pestered a few coaches at the local pool, and even found this cool woman online who’s a professional mermaid – yes, really! I figured she’d know a thing or two about moving around in the water. They gave me some names to check out: Speedo, Nike, and some other brands called Gigi C.
Then I dove into the wonderful world of online shopping. I mean, who actually goes to stores anymore? I started browsing through different websites that sell swimwear. I wasn’t looking for anything fancy, just something that would hold up during a workout and wouldn’t fall apart after a few uses. I found some websites that have a big selection of sports swimsuits for women. They’ve got all sorts of styles, like those racerback ones, and some called “challenge back” which sounded intense. I guess it’s all about how the straps are designed.
My Findings
I started noticing a pattern. A lot of these sporty suits are made from this “endurance” fabric. I guess that means they’re supposed to last a while, which is good because who wants to buy a new swimsuit every month? I also saw a bunch of different styles, from one-pieces with straps to some with high necks. I was starting to feel a bit overwhelmed, to be honest.
So I decided to focus on Speedo, just to narrow things down. It’s a brand I’ve heard of before, and they seem to have a ton of options. I found a bunch of their suits on a few different websites, with prices ranging from like 30 bucks to almost 90. Sheesh, some of these are pricey! I saw names like “Speedo Women’s Endurance+“, “Speedo Women’s Power Flex Eco“, and even “Speedo Women’s Glimmer Flyback“. What does it all mean?!
- Speedo Women’s Plus Solid …$79.50
- Speedo Women’s Endurance+ …$69.50
- Speedo Women’s Guard Endurance …$75.00
- Speedo Women’s Race Maze Super …$55.00
- Speedo Women’s Glimmer …$89.50
- Speedo Women’s Solid Super Pro …$75.00
- Speedo Women’s Glimmer Flyback …$89.50
- Speedo Women’s Double Lace Back …$72.00
Anyway, I ended up ordering a couple of different ones to try on at home. One was that “Endurance+” thing, and another was a “Solid Ultraback” that was on sale – score! I figured it’s better to try them on in my own bathroom mirror than in some tiny, badly-lit changing room, right?
They arrived a few days later, and I spent an afternoon having a little fashion show for myself. I did some squats, stretched my arms around, and even did a few laps in my bathtub (don’t judge) to see how they felt. I realized that searching the keywords “Swimwear” and “Performance” is very helpful. And I also tried looking for “Swimsuit” and “Endurance” in another store, it really narrowed down the list for me.
In the end, I decided to keep the “Solid Ultraback” suit. It felt the most comfortable and seemed like it would hold up to some actual swimming. Plus, it was the cheapest, and who doesn’t love a bargain? I sent the other one back, which was a bit of a hassle, but oh well.
So, that’s my little swimwear saga. I’m definitely no expert, but I learned a few things along the way. If you’re looking for a swimsuit that’s more than just a fashion statement, I’d say definitely check out those “endurance” fabrics, and don’t be afraid to try on a bunch of different styles. And hey, maybe ask a mermaid for advice – you never know!
