Mock Draft Fantasy Basketball 2024: Get Ready with Our Ultimate Guide!

Alright, so, today I tried out doing a mock draft for fantasy basketball. You know, just getting ready for the real deal later on. I gotta say, it’s a pretty fun way to practice and figure out your strategy before the actual draft day. Let’s get into it!

Mock Draft Fantasy Basketball 2024: Get Ready with Our Ultimate Guide!

First off, I went online and found this website where you can do these mock drafts. It’s pretty cool ’cause you can customize all the settings, like how many teams are in your league, what kind of scoring system you’re using, and all that jazz. I set it up to mimic my real league, so it was a 12-team league with standard 9-category scoring. Pretty standard stuff.

Once I got everything set up, I jumped into the mock draft. It’s basically like the real thing, but you’re drafting against computer-controlled teams. Now, these computer teams, they’re not dumb. They’re programmed to pick players based on rankings and all that, so it’s not like you can just steal all the good players.

My Draft Strategy

Going into the draft, I had a few ideas in my head. I wanted to make sure I got a good mix of players across all positions. You don’t want to end up with, like, five centers and no point guards, right? Plus, I wanted to target some specific players I’ve been reading about – some guys who might be undervalued but could have a big season.

  • Round 1-3: In the first few rounds, I went for the big names. Guys like Jokic, Embiid, and Giannis were off the board pretty quick, as you’d expect. I managed to snag Luka Doncic in the first round, which I was pretty stoked about. He’s a beast in fantasy. Then in the second and third rounds, I grabbed a solid point guard in Damian Lillard and then Anthony Davis for my frontcourt, hope he could avoid injuries this season.
  • Round 4-7: After securing those top guys, I started looking for value picks. I picked up a couple of guards who I think are gonna have breakout seasons – guys like Tyrese Haliburton and Tyrese Maxey. These are the kind of players who can really make a difference in your team. I also managed to get a strong power forward like Jaren Jackson Jr. and a solid center in these rounds, Brook Lopez. He is not that flashy but really steady.
  • Round 8-13: In the later rounds, it’s all about finding those hidden gems. I went for some high-upside guys, players who might not be well-known but could put up big numbers if things go their way. I also made sure to fill out the rest of my roster, so I had enough players at each position. For example, I got some good role players, like Marcus Smart and Jeremy Sochan, who will help my team in specific category. And I picked up some potential rookies like Ausar Thompson.

After the draft was over, I took a look at my team. Overall, I was pretty happy with how it turned out. I had a good mix of star players and potential breakout guys. Of course, it’s just a mock draft, so you never know how things will actually play out in the real season. But it’s a good way to get a feel for how the draft might go and what kind of team you might end up with.

I did a few more mock drafts after that, trying out different strategies each time. It’s actually kind of addictive, once you get into it. Plus, it’s a good way to kill some time while you’re waiting for the actual season to start. I will keep doing mock drafts to try different strategies, hope you guys also enjoy it!
