Okay, so today I tried out this “meek williams tennis” thing. Sounds fancy, right? Well, it’s just tennis practice without a ball, focusing on how you move and swing.

First, I started by just swinging my racket around like I was hitting forehands and backhands. No ball, just air. Felt a bit silly at first, but I got into it. I paid attention to how I was standing, how I moved my feet, and how I followed through with each swing.
Then, I moved on to practicing serves and volleys. Still no ball. The serve was tricky without actually hitting anything, but I focused on the motion, tossing an imaginary ball up and swinging. For the volleys, I just pretended a ball was coming at me and practiced my quick swings.
- I even set up some cones and hula hoops on my makeshift court. These were my targets. I aimed my imaginary shots at them, trying to “hit” them with my air shots.
- It was a good workout, honestly. I was sweating, and my arms definitely felt it.
- I also watched myself in the mirror a few times. It helps to see what you’re doing. Caught myself doing some weird stuff with my backhand, so I worked on fixing that.
- Also I recorded some videos on my phone to check out my form. I guess that’s a good way to see if I am improving and it helped.
After a while, I actually felt like I was getting better. My swings felt smoother, and I was moving my feet more naturally. It’s like my body was learning the movements without the pressure of actually hitting a ball.
All in all
It was a pretty good practice session. It is simple, but not as easy as it sounds. It’s all about muscle memory and getting the movements right. I’ll definitely be doing this again. Maybe next time I’ll even add a real ball into the mix!
