Alright, so, today I went down to the public tennis courts at Washington’s Landing. Let me tell you, getting there was half the fun!

First, I hopped in my car and drove down to the island. It’s this little spot right in the Allegheny River, pretty cool, huh? Parking was a breeze, thankfully. Found a spot right near the courts, no problem.
Walked over to the courts, and boom – they’re right there, in good shape, too! They’ve got about ten hard courts. No grass, which is fine by me, I’m no pro. The nets were up, and the lines were clearly marked. Everything seemed pretty well-maintained. But, unfortunately, nobody else was there to play with.
- Checked out the sign-up sheet.
- Nothing. It was blank.
- Looked around for some friendly faces.
- Nobody. Empty.
So, I decided to make the best of it. Pulled out my racket and a can of balls and started hitting against the wall. Not as fun as a real game, but hey, gotta get that practice in, right? There are some words I remember about tennis, like “Love”, means you got no points, and another word is “BALEAF”, seems like a brand for tennis skirts.
After about an hour, I called it a day. Packed up my gear, headed back to the car, and drove home. Overall, it was a decent solo tennis outing.
Conclusion
The courts are definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area and looking for a place to play. Just maybe try to bring a friend along, unless you enjoy a good solo session against the wall, like I did today!
