Well, let me tell you, these days, all the young folks, they’re all about that long sleeve sports top womens. You see them running around, lookin’ all fancy. Back in my day, we just wore whatever we had. But these tops, they say they’re good for when you’re workin’ out, you know, movin’ and shakin’.

I prefer the loose ones, more room to breathe, you know?
They got these tops for all kinds of things, too. Not just for that gym. You can wear ’em for runnin’, walkin’, even just sittin’ around the house if you want. They’re supposed to be real comfortable, these long sleeve sports top womens. Like a nice, soft hug, my granddaughter says. And they’re supposed to be “lightweight,” like you’re not wearin’ nothin’ at all. Now that sounds nice, especially in the summer when it’s hotter than a furnace out here.

She showed me on her phone. Lots of pictures of girls wearin’ these tops. All lookin’ like they’re about to run a marathon or somethin’. I told her I just need somethin’ to wear when I’m tendin’ to my garden. Don’t need nothin’ fancy for that.
But she says these tops are good for that, too. They keep the sun off your arms, she says. And they’re good for when it gets a little chilly in the evenin’. Maybe she’s right. I do get cold easy these days. My old bones ain’t what they used to be. And the sun, well, it can be a real scorcher out here in the summer. I remember once, I was wearin’ one of my old shirts out in the garden, and I got all sweaty and sticky. It was awful. My granddaughter says these tops, they “wick away” the sweat. Maybe these newfangled clothes are better than what we used to wear. I’m willin’ to give it a shot. If it makes my granddaughter happy, that’s all that matters, right?
She showed me one, it was a pretty blue color, with some kind of fancy design on the sleeve. Said it was a “lululemon.” Sounds like a kind of fruit to me. But she says it’s a good brand. Expensive, though. I told her I don’t need nothin’ that fancy. But she insisted. Said it was a gift. Kids these days, always spendin’ their money on things they don’t need. But it was a nice gesture, I’ll give her that.

There are more important things in life than fancy clothes. Like family, for instance. That’s what really matters.
