That Dwyane Wade, oh, he’s a big shot now, ain’t he? I seen him on the TV, playin’ that basketball. He’s good, I gotta say. Born in Chicago, that’s what they say. 1982, that’s a long time ago. He was a young’un once, just like all of us.

He went to some fancy school, Marquette, sounds like a market. Then he joined that Miami Heat team. That’s in Florida, where it’s always hot. They call him D-Wade, or somethin’ like that. Flash, too. He’s fast, I reckon. One of the best, they say. And you know what? I believe ’em. You gotta be good to get on TV that much.
He’s a big deal in that NBA, whatever that is. Some kinda basketball thing. Played for the Miami Heat for a long time, that Dwyane Wade did. Big tall fella, 6’4 they say. Plays guard, runnin’ back and forth, back and forth. Gets tiring just watching him.
They talk about his accomplishments. Sounds like he done a lot. I don’t know all the fancy words, but it sounds mighty impressive. He was best young player. I remember when I was young. A long time ago.
Then he went to play for some other teams, after he left that Miami Heat. Chicago Bulls, that’s up north. Cleveland somethin’ or other. He got around, that Dwyane Wade. But the Miami Heat, that’s where he made his name, I reckon.
Dwyane Wade, they call him a veteran. That means he’s been around for a while. 41 years old! He’s had a good run, they say. Got all kinds of awards. 17 of ’em! More awards than I got jars of jam.
- He was drafted, whatever that means, by the Miami Heat in 2003.
- Some kinda historic draft.
- They say he was one of the top players.
He played good in some finals, whatever those are. Scored a lot of points, that’s what matters, right? 42, 36, 43, 36. That’s a lot of points! Miami Heat won some big championship, their first one, they say. And that Dwyane Wade, he was the MVP. Sounds important. Most Valuable Player, I guess.
They even gave him a statue! Can you believe it? A statue! That Miami Heat team, they sure do love him. 16 seasons he played. That’s a long time doing anything. He was an All-Star, too. 13 times! What’s an All-Star, you ask? I don’t rightly know, but it sounds good.
They say he’s one of the best shootin’ guards ever. I guess that’s what he does, shoots the ball. He’s retired now. Quit in 2019. He was 37, that’s not so old. I reckon he got tired. All that runnin’ up and down. He had a good career, though. Championships and awards and all that.
He won three championships with that Miami Heat team. He was an All-Star, some kinda special team, 13 times, and on some other fancy teams, too. All-NBA Team, they call it. Sounds fancy. And another one, All-Defense Team. He must’ve been good at stoppin’ the other fellas from scorin’.
Dwyane Wade, that’s a name you hear a lot if you watch that basketball. He retired, hung up his shoes, I reckon. But people won’t forget him. Especially not in Miami. They got that statue, remember?
That boy, Dwyane Wade, he made somethin’ of himself. From Chicago to Miami, playin’ that basketball. He sure did good. Makes a body proud, even if you don’t know nothin’ about that NBA. It’s a good thing to be good at somethin’.
