Alright, so today I decided to get my feet wet with a Fantasy Football PPR mock draft. I’ve been hearing all this buzz about PPR scoring and how it changes the game, so I figured, why not give it a shot myself? Here’s how it all went down.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed a platform. After looking at the options, I picked one that was pretty straightforward and easy to use.
Once I was in, I created a mock draft lobby. I went with the PPR (points per reception) settings because that’s what I wanted to test out. Then, it was just a matter of waiting for the lobby to fill up with other players. It didn’t take too long, maybe 5-10 minutes, and we were ready to roll.
The Draft Process
The draft itself was pretty intense! I mean, with PPR, you really start thinking differently about who you pick. Those running backs who catch a lot of passes? Suddenly way more valuable. Wide receivers? Gold, pure gold.
I started by snagging a top-tier running back. I figured, even in PPR, a guy who can run and catch is a must-have. Then, I went heavy on wide receivers in the next few rounds. I wanted those guys who are basically magnets for the football.

- Rounds 2-4: Wide Receivers, Wide Receivers, Wide Receivers
- Round 5: A Quarterback I’ve Had My Eye On
- Later Rounds: Best Available, focusing on potential PPR gems
I will also do the following.
- Try several mock drafts with different strategies.
- Documenting the results of each draft.
- Comparing the data to see which approach yields the strongest team.
Mid-Draft Thoughts
Around the middle of the draft, I started looking for value picks. You know, those players who might not be huge names but could rack up points in a PPR format. Tight ends who get a decent number of targets, running backs who are third-down specialists… that kind of thing.
Wrapping Up
By the end of the draft, I felt pretty good about my team. It was definitely different from what I would have picked in a standard league. It’s amazing how much PPR changes your priorities.
I jotted down my roster and some notes about my strategy. My plan is to do a few more of these mock drafts over the next few weeks, tweaking things as I go. It’s all about getting a feel for the flow of a PPR draft and finding those hidden gems. I am super pumped to keep experimenting and see what kind of killer team I can put together by the time the real draft rolls around!
