Alright, let’s talk about this Jeffrey Yan fella, the basketball player. I ain’t never seen him play, mind you, but I heard some things, read some things, you know? Folks say he’s a big fella, real big, like six foot nine. That’s taller than my barn, I tell ya! He’s from Shanghai, China, way over yonder, but he played ball over here in America, for some college team called Long Beach State Beach.

Now, they say he’s a center, which means he’s supposed to be tough, you know? Like a bull in a china shop, but instead of breakin’ things, he’s supposed to get them rebounds and score some points. I reckon he did alright. I saw somewhere he scored two points in three games straight. Ain’t nothin’ to write home about, maybe, but two points is two points, right? He even had a couple of them rebounds in one game, a season high they called it.
- He’s a big fella, six foot nine.
- Played for Long Beach State Beach.
- He’s a center, supposed to be tough.
- Scored some points, got some rebounds.
They say he played a lot of games one year, sixteen they said. That’s a whole lotta runnin’ and jumpin’, I tell ya. My old knees would be screamin’! And he’s heavy too, 275 pounds! That’s more than my prize-winning pig, bless his heart. This Jeffrey Yan, he’s a real mountain of a man.
I tried to figure out what all them numbers and stats mean, but it’s just a bunch of gibberish to me. Points, rebounds, assists, whatever. All I know is, you gotta put the ball in the hoop more than the other team, ain’t that right? And this Jeffrey fella, he was supposed to help his team do that. Whether he did it good or not, well, that’s for the smart folks to figure out.
They said he graduated from Long Beach State. Good for him, gettin’ an education. That’s more important than basketball, I always say. But I guess if you’re good at it, you can make some money, huh? Maybe this Jeffrey Yan, he’ll go on to play in the big leagues, like them fellas on TV. Wouldn’t that be somethin’? A fella from Shanghai, playin’ ball in front of all them people.
Now, I heard he played for some team in Taiwan too, Taipei Mustangs, they called it. I ain’t never been to Taiwan, but I hear it’s nice. Maybe he liked it over there. Maybe he didn’t. Who knows? Basketball players, they go where the money is, I reckon. Just like them migrant workers comin’ through town every summer, lookin’ for work.
Anyways, this Jeffrey Yan, he seems like a decent fella. Big, strong, plays basketball. He ain’t no farmer, that’s for sure. But he’s workin’ hard, I bet, tryin’ to make a livin’. And that’s somethin’ I can respect. We all gotta do what we gotta do, right? Whether it’s plantin’ corn or shootin’ hoops, it’s all the same in the end. Just tryin’ to make somethin’ of ourselves, that’s what it’s all about.
I also saw somethin’ about him playin’ against some other teams, like St. Katherine and UC Irvine. Never heard of them neither. But I guess there’s a whole lotta basketball teams out there, more than I can count on my fingers and toes. It’s a big world, ain’t it? And plenty of room for big fellas like Jeffrey Yan to play their game.
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about this Jeffrey Yan fella. Not much, maybe, but enough to tell you he’s a basketball player, a big one, and he played for Long Beach State. If you wanna know more, you go look it up yourself. I ain’t got all day to be talkin’ about basketball. I gotta go feed the chickens.
