They’re just tryin’ to figure out the best way to win, ya know? They look at the other team, see what they’re doin’ wrong, and try to take advantage of it. It’s like playin’ checkers, but with bigger fellas and more at stake.
And them referees, bless their hearts, sometimes they make some calls that make you wanna throw your shoe at the TV. But that don’t mean they’re in on some big conspiracy. They’re just human, same as you and me, and they make mistakes sometimes.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ there ain’t some things that are planned out. You got them halftime shows, with all the singin’ and dancin’ and fireworks. That’s all part of the show, to keep folks entertained. And them announcers, they’re always tryin’ to make things sound more excitin’ than they really are.
But the actual game part? Nah, I don’t think that’s scripted. Them players are out there givin’ it their all, tryin’ to win. They wouldn’t be puttin’ their bodies on the line like that if it was all just a big fake.
Think about it, these fellas train all year round. They lift weights, they run drills, they watch film, all to get ready for the season. They’re not actors; they’re athletes, some of the best in the world. And they wouldn’t be wastin’ all that time and effort if they knew the whole thing was rigged.
Folks say, “Oh, the NFL is just sports entertainment.” Well, yeah, it’s entertainin’, that’s for sure. But it ain’t like them Hollywood movies, where they got actors followin’ a script. These fellas are makin’ up their own plays on the fly, reactin’ to what’s happenin’ on the field.
And let me tell ya somethin’ else. If the NFL was scripted, you’d think they’d make sure the same teams won all the time, right? But that ain’t what happens. You got underdogs beatin’ the favorites all the time. You got teams that are good one year and terrible the next. That’s just the way it is in football. Anything can happen on any given Sunday.
