The Struggle Was Real
So yesterday my buddy texts me yelling about Calallen baseball tryouts starting next week. His kid wants to join the 2025 season squad. I’m sitting there thinking okay fine, but when are the actual freakin games? Pulled out my phone like a dumbass and typed “calallen baseball 2025 schedule” straight into Google.
Bam! First page shows all these sketchy third-party sites. Clicked three different links that looked official. Total clown show. One site asked for my credit card just to see dates. Another listed games from like 2018. Closed that trash immediately.
Time to Get Smart
Remembered Calallen High’s sports stuff usually lives on their actual school pages. Hopped onto the district homepage through my browser history. Went digging under Athletics > Baseball section. Big fat nothingburger for 2025. Just old schedules and coach bios. Almost threw my coffee mug.
Plan C kicked in:
- Called the main high school office – lady said “try athletics department”
- Called athletics – got voicemail (shocker)
- Left my number cussing under my breath
The Golden Ticket
Two hours later my phone rings. Coach Anderson picks up sounding tired as hell. Said they literally just finalized the schedule yesterday. They hadn’t even updated the dang website yet. He rattled off all the game dates while I scribbled like a maniac on a pizza box. Home opener’s March 3rd against Carroll. Last regular game May 10th. Got all 28 dates.
Told ya I’d keep it real. Moral of the story? Sometimes you gotta old-school phone hunt when websites play dead. Saved that coach’s number in my contacts now. No more scavenger hunts next season.
