Okay, so here’s my experience with the Greater Pensacola Ladies Tennis League.

I’ve always loved tennis, you know? But finding folks to play with, especially other ladies who are serious about it, can be a real pain. Then I stumbled upon this Greater Pensacola Ladies Tennis League thing, and I figured, “Why not give it a shot?”
First thing I did was try to dig up some info. Turns out, there are different tennis leagues around Pensacola, but this one seemed pretty legit. They apparently have programs for everyone, men, women, even kids. I just needed something for myself, though.
I found a phone number, (850) 939-1093, but I’m more of a website person. Luckily, they have one, called gpltl. I poked around there, looking for details on how to join. It wasn’t super clear, to be honest, but I managed to find a contact form.
I sent them a message, just a simple “Hey, I’m interested, how do I get involved?” kind of thing. I waited a day or two, and then I got an email back.
- They have different levels, which is great. You don’t want to be a beginner playing against a pro, right?
- There are fees involved. But it seemed reasonable for organized matches and all that.
- They have this whole schedule thing, with matches on certain days and times.
I decided to sign up for the upcoming season. I chose a level that I felt comfortable with, nothing too crazy. Then, I got matched up with a bunch of other players around my skill level.
Honestly, the first few matches were a bit nerve-wracking. I hadn’t played competitively in ages! But everyone was super nice and welcoming. We had some good games, some not-so-good ones, but it was all fun.
Getting Into the Groove
After a few weeks, I really started to get into the groove of things. I was playing regularly, meeting new people, and my tennis game was actually improving! Plus, it’s a great way to get some exercise without feeling like you’re at the gym.
They even had this social event, some sort of brunch at the Hilton Garden Inn. It was a nice way to meet some of the other ladies in the league outside of the courts. There were cocktails at 9 am, so that was interesting, and then the brunch started at 9:30 am. Good times.
So yeah, that’s my story with the Greater Pensacola Ladies Tennis League. It’s been a great way to get back into tennis, meet some cool people, and just have some fun. If you’re in the Pensacola area and looking for some tennis action, I’d say check it out. It might just be what you’re looking for!
