Fantasy NFL Top 100: Who to Draft for a Winning Season!

Okay, so I decided to dive into this whole “Top 100 Fantasy NFL” thing. Here’s how it went down, step by step:

Fantasy NFL Top 100: Who to Draft for a Winning Season!

First, I grabbed my laptop and fired up the browser. I knew I needed some data, and lots of it.

Finding the Data

I started by just googling “top 100 fantasy football players 2023”. I figured that was the place every beginner would start.

  • I checked out a few of the big-name sites. You know, the usual suspects in sports news and fantasy advice.
  • I noticed that a lot of them had their own rankings, and they weren’t all the same. Surprise, surprise!

Compiling My Own List

It seems like the only option is to make my own datasheet. I’m a beginner, so I think excel is the way to go for now.

So, I opened up a fresh spreadsheet. This was going to be my master list.

I went back to those websites and started copying the player names and their projected stats. It was a little tedious, to be honest. Lots of clicking and switching between tabs.

After I was done with the first 100, I got another 100. Then 100 more, then 200. I don’t know when to stop!

  • I made sure to include things like position, team, projected points, and maybe some other stats that seemed important. I don’t remember their names.
  • I realized I needed a way to sort them, so I used the spreadsheet’s built-in sorting function. That made things a little easier to manage.
  • When I finished copying, I got almost 500 players in my sheet.

Ranking the Players

I sorted my sheet with total points that players are going to get, in decreasing order.

Now came the “fun” part – actually ranking them. I decided to keep it simple at first.

  • I looked at the projected points, mostly. That seemed like the most obvious factor.
  • But I also considered things like injury history and the player’s team situation. If a guy was on a terrible team, I might bump him down a bit.
  • The 1st was the one with the most points, and the 100th was the 100th most points in my sheet. Easy peasy.

My Top 100 (Sort Of)

After a while (okay, a long while), I had something that resembled a top 100 list. It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine.

I learned that this whole fantasy football ranking thing is a lot more complicated than it looks. There’s a ton of data, and everyone has their own opinion.

Will I update it? Probably. It’s kind of addictive, trying to figure out who’s going to be good and who’s going to be a bust.

But for now, I’m going to take a break. My eyes are starting to cross from staring at all those numbers.
