Alright, so, today I decided to get my hands dirty with some fantasy football preseason rankings. You know, gotta get ahead of the game, right? Let me walk you through what I did.

Started With Some Good Ol’ Research
First things first, I needed to gather some info. No way I’m going in blind. So I hit up a few of the usual suspect websites. I skimmed through their preseason rankings, trying to get a feel for the general consensus.
I jotted down some notes, mainly focusing on players who seemed to be consistently ranked high or low across different sources. You know, trying to spot those “must-have” guys and the ones to maybe avoid.
Digging Into Player Stats
After getting a general overview, I wanted some more concrete data. So I started looking at individual player stats from last season. Stuff like total yards, touchdowns, receptions – you know, the usual.
- For running backs, I was really focused on rushing attempts and yards per carry.
- For wide receivers, I looked at targets, receptions, and yards after catch.
- And for quarterbacks, of course, passing yards, touchdowns, and interceptions were key.
I even looked at some more advanced stats, like air yards and yards after contact, just to get a little extra edge.
Factoring in Offseason Changes
Now, last year’s stats are great and all, but things change, right? So I spent some time looking at offseason moves – trades, free agency signings, coaching changes, all that jazz.
I tried to figure out how these changes might impact individual players. Like, did a team bring in a new offensive coordinator who loves to run the ball? Did a star receiver get traded to a team with a weaker quarterback?
This part was definitely more about gut feeling and speculation, but it felt important.
Building My Own Rankings (The Fun Part!)
Finally, armed with all this data and my “expert” opinions (haha), I started putting together my own rankings. I used a simple spreadsheet, nothing fancy.
I started with a basic ranking, then started tweaking it based on all the factors I’d considered. I moved players up and down, debated with myself about certain guys, and generally just tried to make sense of it all.
It was a bit of a messy process, to be honest. Lots of second-guessing and rearranging. But hey, that’s part of the fun, right?
The Result (For Now…)
In the end, I had a set of preseason rankings that I felt pretty good about. Of course, they’re probably going to change a bunch as the season gets closer and we get more information. Preseason games, injuries, and all that will definitely shake things up.
But for now, I’ve got a solid starting point. And most importantly, I had a blast diving into the numbers and getting ready for another fantasy football season!
I will keep adjusting my spreadsheet to make sure I have advantage for my fantasy football.
