Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this whole “fantasy big board” thing for the NFL, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I wanted to share my experience, from start to finish, and maybe help some of you guys out.

Getting Started: The Idea
First, I just decided I wanted to make my own big board. I was tired of using the same old rankings from those big websites. I wanted something mine, you know? Something I could tweak and really feel proud of.
The Research Phase: So Many Stats!
So, I dove into research. I mean, deep. I spent hours looking at player stats, watching game highlights (which, let’s be honest, is always fun), and reading articles from all sorts of fantasy experts. It was overwhelming at first, there’s just so much information out there.
- I started with the basic stats: rushing yards, receiving yards, touchdowns, you name it.
- Then I got into more advanced stuff: yards per carry, targets, air yards… my head was spinning!
- I also tried to factor in things like player age, injury history, and even the team’s offensive scheme.
Building the Board: Spreadsheet Mayhem
Next, I opened up a spreadsheet. I’m no Excel wizard, but I know the basics. I started plugging in all the players I was interested in, and then added columns for all the stats I had gathered. It was a mess, I’m not gonna lie. Colors everywhere, formulas I barely understood… but it was my mess.
Ranking the Players: The Hard Part
This is where things got real. I had to actually rank these guys. It wasn’t just about the numbers anymore. I had to use my gut, my intuition, my football knowledge (which, admittedly, is still developing). I moved players up and down, debated with myself for hours, and probably drove my wife crazy talking about it.
Tweaking and Refining: Never-Ending Process
Even after I had a “final” board, I kept tweaking it. Every week, I’d update the stats, watch more games, and adjust my rankings. It’s a never-ending process, really. But that’s part of the fun!
I would compare the stats and player performance, I would ask myself, should he really be there?
The Result: My Own Personal Big Board!
Finally, I had something I was proud of. My own personal fantasy big board. It might not be perfect, but it’s mine. And it’s helped me make some pretty good decisions in my fantasy league so far. It’s satisfying to see my work in action!
So, that’s my journey. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. If you’re thinking about making your own big board, go for it! It’s a great way to learn more about the game and have some fun along the way. Just be prepared to get lost in the stats for a while!
