Okay, so, fantasy football season is upon us, and I’ve been diving deep into draft prep. Figured I’d share my process and some of the players I’m targeting. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, to be honest!

Getting Started: The Mock Draft Marathon
First things first, I jumped into a bunch of mock drafts. Like, a LOT. I used different platforms, different scoring settings (PPR, half-PPR, standard), just to get a feel for where players are going. It’s kinda crazy how much ADP (Average Draft Position) can vary!
Initially, I was all over the place. One draft I’d go heavy on running backs, the next I’d prioritize wide receivers. It was messy, but it helped me see the different roster constructions and how my team felt at the end.
Digging into the Data (and My Gut)
After a few days of mock drafting, I started to notice some patterns. Certain players were consistently falling further than I thought they should, while others were getting snatched up way earlier than I’d be comfortable with.
So, I opened up some spreadsheets (yeah, I’m that guy) and started tracking:
- ADP across different platforms.
- Player stats from last year (targets, carries, touchdowns, etc.).
- Projected stats for this year (from various “experts” – take these with a grain of salt!).
- Team situations,coaching changes.
I also read news and analysis. I looked at players’ injuries situation, their team’s environment.
My “Best Players to Draft” List (So Far)
Based on all that, I’ve come up with a preliminary list of players I’m really high on. Keep in mind, this is MY list, based on MY research and gut feeling. Your mileage may vary!
For example, from my point, I think there is a player who is always in top 3 picks, and I think his performence is worth it. Also, I think there are some players who have a low ADP but a high potential.
The Ever-Evolving Strategy
The thing about fantasy football is, things change. Injuries happen, depth charts shift, and suddenly a player you loved in July is a no-go in August. So, I’m constantly tweaking my rankings and strategy.
I’ll keep doing mock drafts, reading up on news, and adjusting my list as needed. The key is to stay flexible and be ready to pounce on value when it presents itself.
It’s a grind, but it’s a fun grind! Hope this helps some of you out there. Good luck with your drafts!
