Fantasy Baseball Player Ratings: The Ultimate Guide for Your Draft Success!

Okay, so I wanted to get into this whole fantasy baseball thing. I mean, who doesn’t love baseball, right? And the idea of building my own dream team just sounded too cool to pass up. But man, where do you even begin? I started by trying to figure out how to rate these players.

Fantasy Baseball Player Ratings: The Ultimate Guide for Your Draft Success!

First off, I dove into a bunch of articles and guides online. There’s so much stuff out there! I stumbled upon this one guide that was all about ranking players and putting them into tiers. That seemed like a good starting point. It talked about looking at a player’s past performance, any injuries they’ve had, and even some projected stats called VDP. I had to learn what is VDP first, and it was a hard time to understand. It’s all about figuring out how good a player might be in the future. But in the future who knows? This seemed pretty solid.

I also found this neat tool where you could compare players side-by-side. You just pick up to four guys, and it tells you who’s probably going to be the better pick for your fantasy team. It uses something called ADPs (which I had to look up – it means Average Draft Position) and rankings from some experts at this place called RotoBaller. Pretty handy, I gotta say.

Here’s what I did next:

  • I started making a list of all the players I was interested in.
  • Then I went through each one and checked out their stats from the last few years. I used a couple of different websites to get a good overall picture.
  • I also looked into their injury history. No point in drafting someone who’s always on the bench, right?
  • For some of the top players, I even tried to find those VDP projected stats. It wasn’t easy, but I managed to get some numbers.

Putting it all together

After I had all this info, I started assigning my own ratings. It was tough, honestly. I mean, how do you really compare a power hitter to a speedy base stealer? But I gave it my best shot, and I even created my own little tier system. It felt pretty good to have my own rankings, even if they weren’t perfect.

The whole process took a while, but I learned a ton. And you know what? Even though it was a lot of work, it was actually pretty fun. Now I’ve got my own player ratings, and I’m feeling way more prepared for my fantasy draft. We’ll see how it all plays out, but at least I’ve got a plan. And hey, that’s half the battle, right?
