Okay, so, I gotta tell you about this whole “fantasy baseball auction values 2024” thing I’ve been messing around with. It’s been a bit of a wild ride, let me tell you!

First off, I started digging into all the info I could find about baseball players, like, every single stat imaginable. You name it: pitch type, velocity, batted ball location, I was drowning in data. I used a bunch of different websites and tools to gather all this stuff. I just kept searching and searching, clicking around until I felt like I had a good handle on what was what.
Then, I had to figure out how I was going to actually use this info for my fantasy team. I knew I needed a solid plan, especially since I was doing an auction league this year, which is way different than the usual snake drafts. The whole strategy changes when you have a budget and you’re bidding against other people. I spent days, just thinking and planning and trying to come up with the best approach.
What did I do next? Well, I had to figure out how much each player was worth to me. This was the trickiest part. I read a bunch of articles about auction strategies and tips. Some people were saying to blow a ton of money on one or two big stars, others said to spread it out and get a bunch of decent players. I felt completely overwhelmed. There are so many different ways to go about it, it was crazy! I spent hours just reading and trying to absorb all the different perspectives.
- I made a list of all the players I was interested in.
- I created a spreadsheet to track all the data, I tried to create my own custom auction values based on the number of teams in my league and the total budget we had.
- I practiced with mock auctions to see how much players were going for.
- I made some initial player values and then adjusted them based on my research and practice.
Here’s what I ended up doing:
The auction itself was intense! Bidding on players, trying to stay within my budget, it was a real nail-biter. I had to make quick decisions and stick to my plan, but also be flexible enough to adapt to what other people were doing. It felt like a real high-stakes game! I was constantly adjusting my strategy on the fly, trying to outsmart everyone else.
In the end, I managed to put together a pretty good team, I think. I got some of the players I wanted, and I even snagged a few steals that I think will really pay off. But who knows, only time will tell if my strategy was any good. This whole experience taught me a lot about baseball, about strategy, and about how much I love this crazy game. I’m already thinking about next year and how I can do even better! I’m hooked, I gotta admit, this fantasy baseball thing is a lot of fun.
I recorded my whole process, from my initial research to my auction notes, I’m going to share them with you. I hope it helps you out with your own fantasy baseball team! I’ll be updating my blog with more of my adventures in fantasy baseball, so stay tuned!
