Okay, so, I wanted to get a jump start on my fantasy football league this year. I’ve been in the same league with the same buddies for, like, five years now, and I’m tired of losing. It’s time to bring home the trophy, you know?

So, I decided to really dive into draft rankings this year. I usually just kinda wing it, look at a couple of websites the day before the draft, and hope for the best. Not this time. This time, I’m going all in.
First, I grabbed a bunch of magazines from the grocery store. You know, the ones with the glossy covers and the player profiles. I spent a few days just flipping through them, highlighting guys that caught my eye, making notes in the margins. It was kinda fun, felt like I was back in school, studying for a test, but a test about football, which is way better.
Then, I moved online. I found a ton of websites that do these rankings. ESPN, Yahoo, NFL, you name it. I opened like a million tabs on my laptop and started comparing their lists. Some of them have these paid subscriptions, and if I will be honest, I subscribed to one of them.
Digging into the numbers
Next, I started to compile my own rankings. I created a massive spreadsheet, which might have been overkill, but whatever. I pulled data from all those different sources, averaged out their rankings, and then started adding my own thoughts. I factored in things like bye weeks, strength of schedule, and even some gut feelings I had about certain players.
- Looked at the rookie class coming in.
- Checked out injury reports from last season.
- Tried to predict which players might have breakout years.
It was a lot of work. I spent hours and hours on this thing. My wife started giving me weird looks, asking if I was having a midlife crisis or something. But I was determined. I wanted to have the best darn draft rankings of anyone in my league.
Finally, after days of grinding, I finished my rankings. I printed them out, put them in a fancy binder, and I gotta say, it felt pretty good. I’m actually feeling confident about the draft this year. We’ll see what happens, but I think I’ve given myself a real shot at winning. Now, I’m ready for the draft day, and we will see if my hard work pays off!
