Alright, so today I decided to dive into the world of NFL mock drafts. It’s that time of year again, and I wanted to see if I could predict how the first round might shake out. I found this “mock draft 2024 simulator nfl” thing and figured, why not give it a shot?

Getting Started
First things first, I had to find a simulator. There are a bunch of them out there, some free, some paid. I just went with one of the free ones that popped up first in my search. I mean, it’s just for fun, right? I wasn’t about to shell out cash for a premium experience.
The Draft Begins!
Once I got the simulator loaded up, it was pretty straightforward. It basically presented me with the draft order and a list of available players. It felt a little overwhelming at first, all these names and stats staring back at me. But hey, I’m no expert, so I just started going with my gut.
The first few picks were pretty much chalk – the top quarterbacks went quickly, as expected. I think I saw Caleb Williams and Drake Maye go one and two, but don’t quote me on that. I was more focused on trying to figure out what my favorite team, (let’s pretend they’re picking around 15th), might do.
Making My Picks (Or, Guessing Wildly)
- Pick 1: The simulator made this pick automatically, as it was set to do. No surprise, top QB.
- Picks 2-14: I watched as the simulator made the picks, mostly following the “expert” rankings. Some trades happened, which was kind of cool to see, even if I didn’t fully understand the logic behind them.
- My Pick (15th): Okay, here’s where I got to play GM. My team needed a wide receiver, so I looked at who was still on the board. There were a couple of guys with decent stats, but one had a slightly better 40-yard dash time, so I went with him. Totally scientific, I know.
- Picks 16-32: I let the simulator finish out the round. A few more trades, some head-scratching picks (at least to me), and then…boom, the first round was done.
The Aftermath
After the draft was over, the simulator gave me some kind of grade. I think it was a ‘C+’. Honestly, I’ll take it. I’m pretty sure I did better than some of the actual NFL GMs will do on draft night. The whole thing took maybe 20 minutes, and it was a fun little distraction. I might even try it again tomorrow, just to see if I can get that grade up to a ‘B’. Maybe.
