Alright, guys, so today I decided to get my feet wet with a fantasy football mock draft. I’ve been hearing about these things for ages, and I figured it was about time I actually tried one out. Honestly, I wasn’t even sure where to start, but a quick search pointed me to a bunch of free platforms.

I picked one that looked pretty straightforward – no fancy bells and whistles, just a simple draft room. I joined a random league, mostly because I didn’t want to overthink it. I mean, it’s a mock draft, right? No pressure.
Getting Started
Once the draft room opened, I was staring at a list of players and a timer ticking down. Talk about instant anxiety! I had, like, a minute to make my first pick. My strategy? Total guesswork! I went for a running back first, figuring that’s a solid foundation. Or so I’ve heard.
- Round 1: Grabbed a top-rated running back. Felt pretty good about that.
- Rounds 2-5: Tried to balance things out – a wide receiver, a quarterback, another running back. Just kinda winged it, to be honest.
- Middle Rounds: This is where things got fuzzy. I started recognizing fewer and fewer names. Started picking based on positions I still needed.
- Late Rounds: Total crapshoot. I think I picked a kicker based on his team’s logo. Don’t judge.
The whole thing took maybe 30 minutes. It was a whirlwind of clicking and hoping for the best. There’s this auto-draft feature, too, which I almost used a few times when the timer was stressing me out. I’m stubborn, so I resist that button.
My final team, what is my team!
After it was all over, the platform gave me some kind of grade. I think it was a C+? Honestly, I’ll take it. I have zero clue if my team is actually any good, but hey, that’s what these mock drafts are for, right? Practice!
So, that was my first ever fantasy football mock draft experience. Definitely a learning curve, but kinda fun in a chaotic way. I might actually do a few more of these before the real season starts. Maybe I’ll even figure out a strategy by then! Or maybe not. We’ll see.
