Alright, so today I decided to tackle something I’ve been putting off: figuring out my overall fantasy football rankings. I mean, the season is basically here, and I didn’t want to be that guy scrambling at the last minute during the draft.
First, I grabbed my laptop and opened up a bunch of different websites – you know, the usual suspects. I wanted to see what the “experts” were saying, just to get a general sense of things. I made sure to have a spreadsheet open too, so I could start jotting down names and making my own notes.
It started out pretty overwhelming, I’m not gonna lie. There are so many players, and so many different opinions! I started by focusing on the top-tier guys – the ones everyone agrees are going to be studs. I wrote down their names, their projected stats, and any injury concerns I could find. That part was relatively easy.
The real work began when I got to the middle rounds. This is where the draft is won or lost, right? So I started digging deeper. I looked at things like team offenses, coaching changes, and even player’s previous performances. I also thought a bit about the strength of the each player’s division opponent.
My Ranking Factors
- Past Performance: Can’t ignore what a guy has done before.
- Team Situation: Is the offense good? Does the player have a new coach?
- Potential Upside: Who has the chance to break out this year?
- Injury Risk: Gotta factor in the chance of someone getting hurt.
- Consistency: Week to week.
I slowly started to build my own rankings, player by player. I moved guys up and down based on my gut feeling and the information I had gathered. It was a slow process, but it felt good to be making progress.
After a few hours, I finally had a list I was (somewhat) comfortable with. It’s definitely not perfect, and I’m sure I’ll be tweaking it right up until draft day. But at least now I have a solid foundation to work from. I feel way more prepared than I did this morning!
It’s a grind, but hey, that’s part of the fun of fantasy football, right? Now, bring on the draft!
