Alright, folks, let’s get into it. I’ve been playing fantasy football for years, and this year I decided to really dig deep and try to nail down the best possible draft strategy. So, I spent the last few weeks doing a ton of research.

First thing I did was make a list of all the usual sources – you know, the big sports websites and all that. I went through their rankings, read a bunch of articles, and started to get a feel for who the “experts” were saying were the top players. This gave me a good starting point, but I wasn’t just going to take their word for it.
Next, I started looking at stats. I dove into last year’s numbers for all the top projected players. I looked at things like total yards, touchdowns, and average points per game. But I didn’t stop there. I also checked out their consistency – did they have a few monster games and then disappear, or were they solid week in and week out? This was a lot of spreadsheet work, but it was worth it.
After that, I started thinking about things like bye weeks and strength of schedule. I compared each player’s schedule to see how many tough defenses they’d be facing. I also paid attention to when their bye week was – I didn’t want to draft a bunch of top players who all had the same bye week!
I also took a look at injury history. Some guys are always getting hurt, and I wanted to avoid those players if I could. I did all this myself and I made sure to record every detail.
Then, I started doing some mock drafts. This is where I really started to put all my research to the test. I tried out different strategies, like going heavy on running backs early or waiting on a quarterback. This is how I found out some great players to get.
Finally, I put together my own rankings. Based on all the data I gathered and my experience from the mock drafts, I created a list of my personal top players at each position. I also made some notes about players I thought were undervalued or overvalued by the “experts.”
Here’s what I found out after doing all this work:
My Top Picks
- Quarterbacks:
- Patrick Mahomes – The dude is just a machine. Consistent, high-scoring, and he’s got a great team around him.
- Josh Allen – Similar to Mahomes, this guy can put up huge numbers. Plus, he can run the ball, which is a nice bonus.
- Running Backs:
- Christian McCaffrey – When he’s healthy, he’s a beast. He can run, he can catch, and he’s always a threat to score.
- Jonathan Taylor – This guy is a workhorse. He gets a ton of carries, and he’s always good for a bunch of yards and touchdowns.
- Wide Receivers:
- Cooper Kupp – He had an insane year last year, and I think he’s going to be great again this year.
- Justin Jefferson – This young guy is a rising star. He’s a great route runner, and he’s got great hands.
- Tight Ends:
- Travis Kelce – He’s been the best tight end in fantasy for years, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
- Mark Andrews – He’s a close second to Kelce, in my opinion. He’s a big target, and he’s always a red-zone threat.
So, there you have it. That’s my process for figuring out the top players for fantasy football. It’s a lot of work, but it’s also a lot of fun. And hopefully, it’ll pay off when it comes time for the draft!
