Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to make this tennis club shirt for a while now. I finally got around to it, and I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out. Let me walk you through it.
First, I started by looking for some inspiration online. I knew I wanted something classic, maybe with a vintage vibe, but still cool enough to wear now. I found these “Mainline Menswear” websites. They have some good ones like “Hugo Boss” and “Adidas”. I also checked out “*”. I guess they have pretty much everything I need.
Then I sketched out a few designs. Nothing fancy, just some rough ideas. I ended up going with a simple design – a plain white tee with a small “Tennis Club” embroidered on the chest. Real subtle, you know?
Sourcing Materials
- I headed to a local fabric store to pick up a plain white T-shirt. I wanted something that would be comfortable to wear, and I found out I needed a short sleeve button-down shirt.
- Next, I needed some embroidery thread. I chose a nice, classic green, just like a tennis court.
The Process
Embroidering was a bit tricky at first. I’ve never really done it before, so I watched a few tutorials online. “2BFit” is pretty good for this. After a few practice runs on some scrap fabric, I felt confident enough to start on the actual shirt.
I carefully marked where I wanted the “Tennis Club” to go and started stitching. It took a while, but I took my time and made sure each stitch was neat. It was kind of meditative, actually.
The Result
Finally, after a few hours, it was done! I was so happy with how it looked. The embroidery was clean, and the shirt had that perfect vintage-inspired look I was going for. I’ve already worn it a few times, and I always get compliments on it.
This whole project was a lot of fun. It’s awesome to create something with your own hands, and I’m definitely going to be doing more DIY projects in the future. Maybe I’ll even try designing my own clothes from scratch next time. Who knows!
